Expert Advice Print Version Q. I'm scheduled for a spine fusion of my low back. Will I be able to get up and walk without difficulty after I have surgery? A. Some patients may need to use a walking aid, such as a walker or cane, for a short time after surgery. Walking is approached gradually and in a guided manner to avoid injury and complications. Try not to over-do it the first few times you get up and walk. Build up gradually to avoid a flare-up of symptoms. Print Version |
